About
The Vine & Shine Pillow is a cushion with adorable sunflower motifs encapsulated in a fun lattice & stem design. It’s perfect for decor in any room that needs a summery touch!
This pattern is also beginner-friendly, with step-by-step photos for every single part of the pattern.
This adorable decorative pillow is the matching pair to the Vine & Shine Throw -- both designs are included in my new book, Crochet Retro Blankets in 1 Week, alongside 19 other matching throw & pillow sets.
Sizing
The standard pillow size is 10.5" (27 cm) wide and 10" (25 cm) long; this is the size you see in photos.
The following sizing & yardage chart is straight from the pattern PDF:
Materials
Hook: 5mm or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions:
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Bobbin holders (I used bobby pins)
~150g polyfil stuffing or 11 x 11-inch (28 x 28-cm) pillow insert
Yarn: Aran/worsted/size 4; for amount needed for each color, see sizing chart above
I used acrylics like Lion Brand Pound of Love and Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling to make this. I recommend using a similar acrylic or wool for your own project; you can find good substitutes on yarnsub.com.
Always make a swatch before beginning to make sure you meet gauge (also important so your pattern isn’t too big or too small) and are happy with the fabric created!
Gauge
Note: Gauge is not super important for this project, but knowing if your tension is similar to mine will help you figure out if you’ll need more or less yarn than what I have listed.
4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm) = 16.5 sts and 18 rows in single crochet
If your swatch is too small, try using a bigger hook. If it's too big, try using a smaller hook.

Sizing: This design is written for one size, as detailed in the “Sizing” section above. There are instructions to adjust to a larger size if desired.
Construction: This design is worked row-by-row, with color changes throughout to create the pattern of vine and sunflower motifs.
