All the Patterns in My Book, Retro Crochet Style

Hi friends!

We’re a few months past the release of my first-ever pattern book, Retro Crochet Style: 15 Beginner-Friendly Patterns to Create Your Vintage-Inspired Wardrobe (buy it here!), and I thought it was finally time to compile all the patterns into one blog post for your perusal.

All these patterns are size-inclusive (XS-5XL) and beginner-friendly. They also have step-by-step photos to keep you right on track, and customized sizing tips to create the perfect fit for you! Over 250 testers worked to make these patterns the best version they could be — make sure to check out their work on my Instagram.

If you want to test out just one pattern or two before committing to the whole book, you can get them on my Etsy, Ravelry, Ribblr, or website! Individual sale links will also be below each pattern, along with a related blog post with more info on each pattern.

If you have any questions about these patterns or the book itself, don’t hesitate to email me at sspstitches@gmail.com.

Let’s get straight into it!

Daisy Daze Dress

My personal favorite design from the book: the Daisy Daze Dress! I wore a pink version to a friend’s wedding and got so, so many compliments. My beautiful friend Rose modeled for the book, and every time we go into our local bookstore, we pick up the book and have a moment to wonder over how wild it is we’re both published models!

Anyways, the sleeves on this design are a standout & the hem flowers are just the perfect little tie-in detail & this will forever be my favorite dress for spring.

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Gardenia Vest

The cutest little layering piece you’ll ever see! The Gardenia Vest was one of my favorites to design. It looks tough to make, but I think surface slip stitch is essential for any crocheter’s repertoire, and this provides ample practice for beginners and an interesting project for experienced crafters.

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Patchwork Patty Cardigan

Named after my late grandmother who never got to pursue her dreams of fashion design, the Patchwork Patty Cardigan was the first thing I ever crocheted — when I didn’t even know what a pattern was! This is the design I’ve made the most of by far, and I can confirm it looks fantastic in any color combo.

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Floweralls

My first-ever pattern, and perhaps my most iconic (or at least well-known in the crochet community) — the Floweralls! This spring/summer staple is worked first in individual flower granny squares, then patched together to create the festival outfit of your dreams.

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Sunbeam Skirt

The breeziest, flowiest skirt ever, the Sunbeam Skirt is an easy one-day project with stunning results. Made entirely of triple crochet, slip stitch, and single crochet, this is the ultimate beginner-friendly pattern. The tie-waist is flattering on every body — spring outfits, here we come!

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Bucur Sweater

My first-ever unisex design (yes, I consider the Floweralls unisex, but unfortunately Etsy & Ravelry categorization does not) — the Bucur Sweater! Named for the word ‘joy’ in Romanian because of the joy a good ol’ sweater can bring, this design & color combo has always been one of my favorites. The stripes, hints of texture, and cinched cuffs come together to make a simple yet stunning design to make & wear.

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Countryside Cardigan

A simple yet stunning make: the Countryside Cardigan! I’ll forever regret not blocking this piece before we took the photos for the book — please focus on the gorgeous greens and cute little flower buttons instead of the side of the collar that didn’t stay folded down. My pink version of this is also one of my most-complimented pieces ever.

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Solar Flares

My second-ever pattern, the Solar Flares are one of the design I’m the most proud of. The flare is flattering on everyone who makes it, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed how many festival outfits these have been featured in since the pattern release in February 2022! I’ll never get tired of seeing this design in every color combination possible.

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Bell Blossom Top

The first new pattern I wrote for the book: the Bell Blossom Top! I can’t wait to see the endless color combos people make of this one. The flare sleeves are perhaps my favorite element of one of my designs ever — I’m a sucker for a 60s/70s look, as the title & theme of the book may suggest!

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Secret Garden Sweater

The Secret Garden Sweater combines my favorite things: patchwork, flowers, a cinched waist & cuffs, and endless color possibilities. I didn’t think much of this design when I first posted about it, but it’s been a surprising hit — I’ve come to appreciate it even more through a recent maroon version, and I hope to make a blue one soon!

Here’s where you get the individual pattern:

Off the Grid Sweater

The greens of a park in my hometown are the perfect backdrop for the Off the Grid Sweater — I love that the cream lines on the sweater and the white of the picket fence almost seem to intersect. I love making clothes for my friends, and my dear pal Shelby was so happy to model this one. I hope I get to make even more versions for friends yet to come!

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Letterman Sweater

The most retro design to ever retro: the Letterman Sweater! Made in my undergraduate college’s colors, of course (go cream & crimson!). I love, love, love the striped cuffs & hem on this one, and the fold-over gives it such a collegiate, comfy feel.

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Gelato Sundress

Stripey, summery, Gelato Sundress! This works up pretty mindlessly— easy to make while watching TV or listening to an audiobook— and the result is still stunning. The tie-shoulder and tie-waist together create such a simple silhouette that’s flattering on everybody.

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Spring Fling Shorts

A staple in my spring/summer wardrobe, the Spring Fling Shorts are incredibly comfy yet stylish. I don’t think I’ve ever worn them out without being complimented — they’re a standout piece!

Here’s where you can get the individual pattern:

Ophelia Skirt

Easily my most-requested pattern: the Ophelia Skirt! I’m a sucker for a miniskirt, and combined with the patchwork and flower elements, this design is sure to become a summer wardrobe staple. I’ve seen at least a dozen festival outfits with it incorporated, and can’t wait to see more over the coming years!
